The "KFC" Kittens
|
On a routine trip to pick up supplies for
the animals here at our sanctuary, we
discovered a cat and a litter of kittens
behind a local KFC. The kittens can't be more
than three weeks old.
They are dangerously close to busy roads
and they have no shelter. We have been
leaving food and water for the last few days
and need your support. So far, we
have seen the mother and five tiny kittens, though
we suspect she may have more.
Time is of the essence - every minute
counts given their precarious living
arrangements. Won't you consider
lending your support so
that we can help the "KFC Kittens" off
the street and into safety?
There are two
ways that you can help:

A photo of Lizzie below ...
you can see a blood spot or ulcer on her eye.
Sadly, that is a sign of FIP. Monday,
she will have the fluid in her stomach
drained and blood work. Please say prayers!

Three of Lizzie's babies,
snuggling together.

The kittens and Lizzie
still need your help. As you can see,
their eyes are very bad.
Everyday, we have pull them apart, wash them,
and medicate their little eyes.

The entire family is now off the streets
and at It's Meow or Never. It was
impossible to get a picture of the fifth
kitten and Mommy and babies need some quiet,
bonding time after a trying few days.
We'll try to get a picture of him/her
tomorrow.
Mommy is breathing very heavily and has an
injured foot. Can you please help us to
pay for a trip to the vet with the gift
of your
donation?

We trapped another of the kittens tonight -
this one is very sickly and will require
medical care. Please, find it in your
heart to donate in any amount.

We have trapped two of the KFC
kittens tonight! We need your help more
now than ever as they both have upper
respiratory infections and will require
veterinary care. Please consider
donating or sponsoring at this time to help
us provide the care that they need.
Tomorrow we will try for the remaining
kittens and Mommy.

Mommy and the kittens are getting
more comfortable and used to eating under the
trap. Here, you can see Mommy indicated
by the blue arrow and kittens indicated by
the red arrows. As you can see, it
doesn't take long for the babies to develop
and start wandering ... Mommy has a hard job
protecting all of her babies and she appears
to have labored breathing - we're deeply
concerned for her.

While it might be very
tempting to drop the trap and rescue whoever
happens to be inside at the time, it's
critical that we are patient ... dropping the
trap too soon could risk scaring off anyone
outside of the trap and making it impossible
to get them off the streets.
We'll go back again tomorrow
evening and will keep you posted.

Mommy and 4 babies came out to get
some canned food and water.
There's a family of raccoons in the area that
are very interested in the trap. Will
try again tomorrow.
Here are some rough photos of Mommy and a
couple of the kittens. It's hard to get
good photos from such a distance.

Red box shows two kittens
drinking water. Mommy is indicated by
the blue box.
